King Edward VI School for Girls

For over a century, King Edward VI Handsworth School in Birmingham has stood as a symbol of educational excellence and architectural grandeur. Its 73 stately sash windows have long framed the school’s vibrant learning environment. However, time had diminished the windows’ original splendour, and the building failed to meet modern efficiency standards.

Enhancing the thermal, acoustic, and security performance of these time-honoured windows while preserving their historic charm required a delicate touch. With windows needing restoration or complete replacement, and intricate stone masonry repairs, the school turned to Spatial’s expert craftsmen.

Our complimentary consultation revealed that the schoolhouse required 55 new bespoke windows and the renovation of 18 existing ones. We took precise measurements and sourced the finest materials to honour the school’s unique architectural style.
